Two Animal Shelters Receive Up to $4,000 in Matching Grants to Fund Needs Assessments

CINCINNATI, OH – The Mason Foundation for Animal Shelter Design announced its fourth matching grant award of up to $8,000 total for two animal shelters to conduct a needs assessment. Each animal shelter has been awarded the maximum amount of up to a $4,000 matching grant.

The Montclair Township Animal Shelter in Montclair, NJ was awarded the maximum matching grant to up to $4,000 towards a needs assessment and shelter redesign plan to upgrade the facility under the leadership of a new director and in partnership with an architectural firm. The 3,000 square foot facility is 25 years old and needs an updated layout, design and interior structure to promote adoptions and enhance the care of the animals.

The Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society in Bainbridge, GA was awarded the maximum matching grant to up to $4,000 towards a needs assessment and architectural drawings to design a new shelter. The new shelter will be built on five acres of donated land and will replace the current two metal buildings that total 4,320 square feet.

"A needs assessment and architectural plans are a critical first step in the design or redesign of a shelter," said Greg Taylor, Executive Director of the Mason Foundation for Animal Shelter Design. "The matching grants from the Mason Foundation for Animal Shelter Design help accelerate that process."

The Mason Foundation for Animal Shelter Design awards matching grants to animal shelters in the United States. The matching grants enable shelters across the United States to fund an initial needs assessment and architectural consultation, providing the hard data necessary to quantify the size and scope of the new facility or remodel, and to start the process correctly and professionally with schematic architectural drawings.

Shelters may apply at www.MasonAnimalFoundation.org. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. For more information, email info@MasonAnimalFoundation.org or call 937-780-1039. Mason Company established the Mason Foundation for Animal Shelter Design as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation to enable animal shelters to work with architects and needs assessment providers on their project.
